zoo
I think it's safe to assume that my daughter will not have a future career in dolphin training. When they came swimming up to the viewing area, she shrieked, ran away and clung to us for dear life, all the while saying "I don' like it". I won't even go into what happened at the stingray exhibit. The rest of the day was fun, and our favourite thing was the interactive water fountain that the kids got to run through.

I don' like that!
This is Isabel's mantra. She tends to be timid in new situations, and she expresses her apprehension by repeating "I don' like that" over and over and over.
Yesterday we went to the beach. (I don't have pictures because I'm terrified of getting sand in my lens) Anyway, she loved the sand and water, but was not digging the seagulls. Every time a bird flew overhead, Izzie would scream, start running and then face plant into the sand like an ostrich. When the immediate threat had passed, she would get up slowly and say "Mama, I don' like that!).
We've been swimming a lot lately, and the twins are getting braver and braver about putting their faces under water, floating on their backs and jumping in the water. Even so, each time Izzie would emerge from the water, she would have a huge smile on her face and the words "I don' like that" on her tongue. Moments later she would be begging for more.
What a weirdo!

phelps phans
We let the kids stay up late to watch Michael Phelps make history. (sorry the video sucks... the soundbite is cute though!)

hansel and gretel
The other day I heard some random noises coming from the basement where the twins were playing. I figured I should take my mothering duties seriously and go check things out. I walked downstairs to find Isabel's entire head covered in Panko. (I won't even mention the fact that I had just spent an hour braiding her hair.)

Apparently my children thought it would be fun to dump the entire box of breadcrumbs over her head, and then spread it all over the floor. Despite my best cleaning attempts, my whole house had a breadcrumb trail running throughout it. If only I could have summoned some woodland creatures to come help with the clean up!
