30 Days, 30 Parks, Day 30

The Grove, Glenview, IL
I wanted to do something special for our last park, and I thought that this nature preserve would be perfect because they have life size lincoln logs that kids can build with! It's not a playground, but I figured that it definitely counts as a park. We started out going for a short hike, stopping to watch the chipmunks, squirrels, and possibly an otter (we didn't get a good look at it, as it scurried away rather quickly, but it was brown with a long pointy tail...) We stopped inside the nature center and discovered that Isabel has another fear: frogs. Apparently she's fine with snakes, which she was trying to kiss.

Finally, after enormous build-up, we reached the clearing where the lincoln logs are kept, only to find that they'd been put away for the winter. Bummed, we continued hiking and exploring this gorgeous park.
