This past weekend was filled with all sorts of holiday happenings. On Saturday we attended the Third Annual IEKC Holiday Brunch. It was absolutely fantastic, and I am always amazed at how our group has grown over the past three years. It was so much fun to see kids that we've known since they were infants running around and playing together, and it was really nice to meet new families as well! Izzie and Elijah had a great time, and we only caught brief flashes of them "running amok" with the other kids.
Sunday we decided to make the trek to the country to chop down a christmas tree. We stopped for brunch along the way, and got to the tree farm around 11:00. They claimed to have 24,000 trees, (and that may have been true) but most of the ones we saw were either way too big for our little house, or looked a little scraggley. After 45 minutes of tromping through the snow in 16 degree weather seeking the perfect tree, we'd all had our fill of tradition, and settled on a charming but less than ideal tree:

We got home, put the twins down for their nap, and got to business unpacking the decorations, checking to make sure the lights worked, and getting the tree set up in its stand. This is what the kids saw when they came downstairs after they woke up:

Elijah exclaimed "Oh wow, I love that tree!"
We spent the evening decorating the tree.

Here's the finished product:

It's kind of a Charlie Brown tree. From one specific angle, it looks pretty good. One side is totally flat, and the other has a gigantic bare spot. But it's our tree and we love it just the same!

Ah, such a sweet Christmas tree. And even sweeter to see your family in the holiday spirit...decorating your tree! Ours has been outside in its tree stand since the day after Thanksgiving. We thought we were on top of things, getting it early and all, but then it just sits, waiting for us to have the time to decorate. bah humbug!
i love CB trees! if i had a working camera, i'd post on our CB tree.
I'm with Elijah - I love that tree. It perfect. Looks like they had a lot of fun decorating. What a nice memory - the first Christmas in your new home.
yours is beautiful. I seriously might have a charlie brown tree as it was bought pretty much sight unseen. trying to go with its the thought that counts sentiment.
