30 days of nothing is no longer an experiment, a project or a game for me. It has become a lifestyle choice (and that is still far more than most are able to choose).
Glad this is a protected blog and glad to know my hubby is very unlikely to venture here - HUGE struggle for me emotionally and intellectually in terms of where he is in terms of a "challenge" or a transformation. He's a generous and kind (probably the kindest person I know) man, but he's the same guy who finds one thing after another that he wants - granite counter tops, for example. We just bought a new fridge in Dec. that was basically a 'give in' on my part and I'm so so so so RESENTFUL of the dang thing. We've had SOME good conversations, but I'm wondering how to make progress. Well, I have some ideas, but they need time, and with a 22 mo. old, and our working lives, we are having a struggle finding time. I think I am going to have to hire a babysitter to get some time to do some really core work (our budget for example) to make room for a bigger picture discussion. Argh - sorry - tough tough morning. It's like that sometimes with a partner. And, I'm the first to admit that it's often a dilemma of those who earn what we earn - to feel so blessed by having and able to give - but not 'giving up.' LONG TERM STRUGGLE FOR ME! I worry we won't 'do' some of the things I want to do (or at least suggest we might do as a family) because we are too burdened by our possesssions and our stuff. Now I have to go and grade papers. Bah!
