30 Days, 30 parks, day 10

Emily Oaks Nature Center Playground, Skokie, IL
Here's another "hidden gem" of a playground right next to a small but lovely nature preserve with a few hiking trails and plenty of (urban) wildlife. The kids had fun blowing off some steam after their first full week of preschool, and then we went for a short hike looking for signs that the seasons are beginning to change (for Isabel's weekend homework assignment). It was a very nice way to spend the afternoon!

Now that's a good homework assignment. I was kind of freaked out when you said homework.

We've been to our same old neighborhood park every single day since Dagmawit came home two weeks ago. Every single day. I had no idea I could do it, but it's actually fun (I know, you're saying duh!) and it's amazing for the kids. The 3 of them have learned how to be together by using the playground. It's fabulous.

Looks like so much fun! We're fortunate to live in a city with a zillion playgrounds and parks, but we usually fall back on the same 5 or 6. We might have to follow your lead here. I hope these are your last days of being a work widow. I certainly know how you feel. :(
